ZED ZONE vehicles: repair, fuel and every ride
Driving is how you cover the island, carry loot home and, in 1.0, reach the second island. Here is every vehicle in the game, how to keep it running, and the quirks players run into.
- Repair parts with a Vehicle Repair Kit; one in the trunk counts.
- Tires: Tire Sealant or the Electric Air Pump, no removal needed.
- Hold the handbrake (Space) to drift.
Every ZED ZONE vehicle
| Vehicle | Where / how | Notes |

| Bicycle | In front of houses and shops, along roadsides | Basket for items; riding trains Strength; Space locks the rear wheel for drifts; a hard crash knocks you off. Official |
| Kart, Two-seat Kart | Added in Beta 0.9.99.9.7 | Official |

| Train (1.0) | Stations on the Far Island | Call a train and pick a stop on the route map; each Area Guardian you defeat powers another section. Trains have storage. Official |
| Boat (1.0) | Repair it on the main island | Sails to the Far Island and back; items in the cabin travel with you. Official |
The forklift and self-driving car were added to old saves too. Official For the island route, see Far Island and ending.
How to repair a vehicle in ZED ZONE
- Carry a Vehicle Repair Kit (item 55). Since Beta 0.9.98 a kit in the vehicle’s trunk works too. Official
- Open the vehicle panel and repair the damaged part. Players report repairs start on parts below about 80%, and that gun parts cannot be used to fix cars. Players report
- Tires have their own options: patch them with Tire Sealant (item 77) or pump them up with the electric air pump (861), without taking the tire off. Official
Driving tips
- Handbrake: hold Space (RB on a pad) to lock the rear wheels and drift. Official
- Zombies: vehicles knock down ordinary zombies more easily and can run over downed ones; a zombie cannot get up while a vehicle sits on it. Official
- Menus: opening the map, inventory or pause menu while driving keeps your speed when you close it. Official
- Lights: flashlight and night vision you had on before getting in turn back on when you get out. Official Your pets ride along. Official
- Fuel stops: roadside fuel stops and rest areas line the roads since Beta 0.9.99.8. Official
Driving used to be the top cause of stutter and some crashes. If you freeze in a car, update first; see crashes and stutter.
Handling, storage and alarms
- Slippery steering. Several players find cars slide a lot under throttle and feel slow on rough ground; a damaged car or tire makes it worse. Ease off before corners or use the handbrake deliberately. Players report
- Trunk size varies by model. Players note large SUVs carry far more than small cars; there is no in-game hint like a backpack’s grid size, so open the trunk before choosing a car for loot runs. Unverified
- Car alarms. Searching or breaking into a parked car can set off its alarm, which pulls zombies from the whole block; the longer your run, the more enemies an alarm summons. Players report Official
- Several cars. One older report has a second parked car vanishing while the player was away. Unverified Keep the cars you care about at your base.
